Chair Jodi Haley called the meeting to order at 10:34am.
Members in attendance were: Patty Jones, Jodi Haley and Tracey Parsons.
Members not in attendance were: Ruth Castor, Pat Swartzlander and April Youngs.
Guest in attendance was Kelly Bailey to be considered for nomination to board of directors.
Staff in attendance was Cassie Lynch.
Introductions were made.
A quorum was declared.
Motion by Tracey, second by Patty that agenda be approved. Motion passed unanimously.
Motion by Tracey, second by Patty that past minutes from 1-15-09 regular meeting be approved. Motion
passed unanimously.
Old Business
Board development was discussed. Motion by Patty, second by Tracey for Kelly Bailey to join board of
directors to represent Clarke County. Motion passed unanimously.
Cassie relayed that the insurance application had been mailed; however, there has been no reply yet.
Cassie will contact the agent.
New Business
Treasurer Patty provided report on the CPA’s year-to-date financial statement dated 2-28-09. Cassie has
contacted Sandy Erickson at Decatur County Extension to see if she would audit our books for the last
fiscal year. Sandy requested some information from our CPA before she committed to performing an audit
for us. Cassie will follow up to make sure this is done. Motion by Tracey, second by Kelly to place
financial statements on file for audit. Motion passed unanimously.
Director’s report distributed and discussed. Cassie relayed that a board member from South Central Iowa
Community Foundation spoke with her recently regarding an endowment program for Positive Parenting,
Inc. Cassie to invite their executive director to our next regular board meeting to give information
regarding endowment program. Motion by Tracey, second by Patty that the director’s report be accepted
into the minutes. Motion passed unanimously.
Cassie reported on grants she will be writing within the next few weeks.
Staff salaries and benefits were discussed. Motion by Tracey, second by Patty that Cassie, Darla, and
Shelly receive a 3.7% raise; Evelyn receive a 5% raise; and Cassie’s health insurance premiums will be
covered up to $207.85 per month. Motion passed unanimously.
Child Abuse Prevention Month activities discussed. Board members will take part by passing out blue light
bulbs within their respective counties. Cassie will prepare and submit a press release regarding the blue
light bulbs and their significance.
Policies and procedures development discussed. Kelly will attempt to get copies of another child abuse
prevention organization’s policies and procedures. Cassie will locate and/or purchase other samples to
review.
Next meeting will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. in Decatur County at the Positive
Parenting Main Office. After the regular board meeting work will begin on policies and procedures.
Motion by Patty, second by Tracey to adjourn. Meeting was adjourned at 12:45pm by Jodi.
